Lego Indiana Jones and the Call To Adventure
Since the time the plastic toy building bricks first became a worldwide phenomenon, Lego has been one of the most popular brands of construction toys in the world. A company founded in Billund, Denmark, Lego has made deals with world renowned media franchises and are now known as Lego Star Wars, Lego Harry Potter, Lego Batman, and Lego SpongeBob. Now Lego Indiana Jones has taken his rightful place with these Lego superstars.
Dr. Henry Walton Jones, Jr., otherwise known as Indiana Jones, is a fictional character created by George Lucas in the early 70''s but he didn''t appear on the silver screen until the Raiders of the Lost Ark in1981, The role has been in the hugely popular Indiana Jones movies. The character''s adventures are portrayed as beginning during the 1930''s. As portrayed by Harrison Ford, Indiana Jones is an Archaeology college professor following diverse adventures to recover well known artifacts. George Lucas, already being famous for his Star Wars creations, had a natural with the Indiana Jones character in the world of movie buffs and media icons.
The concept and creation of the Indiana Jones character was so well publicized that tons of merchandise was made as a result of the franchise. In May 2008, the Cartoon Network aired a movie called Lego Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Brick and the popular franchise was introduced to Lego lovers. The movie was a three-dimensional animated film that showcased four chapters of Indiana Jones'' adventures.
In June 2008, a video game was released in the United States and Canada entitled Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures. This game featured scenes from several of the Indiana Jones films including exerts from the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom and Last Crusade. Travellers Tales released this Lego Indiana Jones video game, with the copyrights belonging to LucasArts. The game has been released in different venues including PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Wii, XBox 360, PS2 and PSP.
The first three films and the Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventure video game paved the way for the newest, and extremely popular, Lego Indiana Jones Classic series of toy building sets and minifigures. These toy sets allow youngsters to take part in the Indiana Jones themed adventures sets: Shanghai Chase, Indiana Jones Motorcycle Chase, Fight On the Flying Wing, Indiana Jones and the Lost Tomb, Temple Escape, and Race for the Stolen Treasure set. A few of the minifigs in these sets are Willie, Short Round, Professor Henry Jones, Belloq, and Satipo.
The fourth film in the Indiana Jones series, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, inspired the Lego sets with minifigures including the Jungle Cutter set, Temple of the Crystal Skull set, River Chase set and the already hard to find Peril in Peru set. These toy sets features most of the films characters such Colonel Dovchenko, Mutt Williams, Irina Spalco, Marion Ravenwood, and various Russian guards, Ugg Warriors, and assorted skeletons. Of course there''s the main man himself, Indiana Jones, complete with trademark hat and whip!
